Responsibilities
- Lead the design and implementation of representation learning systems, embedding models, vector search solutions, and retrieval-augmented architectures.
- Define architecture for AI-first platforms using foundation models, large language models, autonomous agents, and classical machine learning.
- Establish best practices for agent orchestration, memory management, tool integration, confidence calibration, and human-in-the-loop workflows.
- Architect multimodal systems combining imagery, text, and structured data for detection, classification, reasoning, and decision support.
- Evaluate emerging AI technologies and guide adoption decisions across the organization.
- Translate complex business and technical challenges into scalable, explainable, and responsible AI solutions.
- Define success metrics and partner with leadership to measure business impact.
- Mentor engineers and data scientists and elevate technical excellence across the team.
- Contribute to intellectual property, research publications, innovation, and technical thought leadership.
Requirements
- Master’s degree or Ph.D. in Computer Science, AI/ML, Mathematics, or a related field.
- Master’s candidates require 7+ years of experience, while Ph.D. candidates may have 6+ years of relevant experience, including demonstrated technical leadership.
- Proven experience leading the end-to-end design and delivery of production ML systems and setting technical direction for other engineers.
- Deep expertise in representation learning, embeddings, vector similarity search, retrieval-augmented approaches, and foundation-model architecture.
- Strong command of regression, classification, forecasting, and model interpretability.
- Hands-on experience with CNN, LSTM, GRU, GANs, BERT, diffusion models, and Transformers.
- Substantial experience with LLMs and agent-based solutions using frameworks such as LangGraph, CrewAI, or AutoGen.
- Experience architecting multimodal or vision-language models that jointly encode imagery with text or structured data.
- Proficiency in Python; C++ or Java familiarity is a plus.
- Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, scikit-learn, large datasets, and distributed systems.
- Geospatial or spatial-data experience, including spatial indexing, geospatial data structures, or entity resolution/conflation, is advantageous.
- Ability to make and defend independent architectural decisions, measure system effectiveness, mentor senior engineers, and lead cross-functional teams.
- Exposure to TinyML, quantum computing, or 3D modeling/AR is advantageous.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills, including communication with senior stakeholders.
