Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable, resilient, and high-performance applications and services for the Learning platform.
- Lead the design and implementation of distributed systems, microservices, and cloud-native architectures.
- Modernize large-scale monolithic applications into scalable microservices.
- Build AI-powered product capabilities and intelligent automation solutions.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, designers, and engineers on customer-facing solutions.
- Drive technical design discussions and contribute to platform architecture decisions.
- Improve CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation, observability, and operational excellence.
- Use Kubernetes and cloud-native technologies to improve scalability, reliability, and performance.
- Troubleshoot and resolve complex production issues across distributed environments.
- Participate in code reviews, mentoring, technical documentation, technology evaluation, and engineering best practices.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
- 8+ years of software engineering experience building large-scale SaaS or cloud-native applications.
- Strong Ruby and Ruby on Rails proficiency, or equivalent experience with C#, Java, Go, or Python and the ability to learn Ruby.
- Experience building Ruby on Rails applications, APIs, background processing, scalable services, and performance optimizations.
- Deep expertise in system design and software architecture, including microservices, distributed systems, event-driven architectures, and API design.
- Experience designing highly scalable, resilient, and fault-tolerant systems.
- Strong experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP, plus Kubernetes, Docker, containerization, and cloud infrastructure.
- Understanding of DevOps practices including CI/CD, Infrastructure as Code, monitoring, logging, alerting, and observability.
- Experience with AI-assisted development tools and AI-driven approaches to improve engineering productivity and software quality.
- Strong SQL and NoSQL database, data modeling, and application performance optimization expertise.
- Experience working effectively in globally distributed engineering teams.
- Preferred: hands-on experience with Ruby, Ruby on Rails, Sidekiq, RSpec, Redis, PostgreSQL, and modern API development.
- Preferred: experience migrating monoliths to microservices, building AI-enabled products, operating enterprise SaaS platforms at scale, or working with React or Vue.js.
