Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain database build standards for security, patching, resilience, and high availability.
- Provide database design support and define scalable database architectures, backup and recovery strategies, clustering, data management, and disaster recovery plans.
- Automate database deployment and maintenance using DevOps tooling and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database changes and platform configuration.
- Implement Oracle database infrastructure in Microsoft Azure and migrate workloads from on-premises environments.
- Use version control, secrets management, containers, and orchestration tools to improve repeatability and control.
- Monitor database resources, manage capacity, tune performance, and diagnose issues using query plans and Oracle tools.
- Investigate and resolve production incidents, database issues, and service disruptions.
- Document and execute backup, restore, upgrade, patching, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Maintain database security and compliance alignment in partnership with IT Security.
- Support Unix administrators and application teams, provide troubleshooting guidance, and lead technical escalations.
- Participate in shift coverage and on-call support, including planned maintenance outside normal business hours and on weekends.
Requirements
- Experience supporting database platforms and versions in business-critical environments.
- Experience with Oracle and SQL database environments, Azure, cloud migration, and Infrastructure-as-Code.
- Experience with database automation, scripting, CI/CD tools, and platform reliability practices.
- Experience supporting high availability, backup and recovery, disaster recovery, performance tuning, and production operations.
- Ability to support database connectivity through ODBC, JDBC, and vendor-specific architectures.
- Ability to work across database design, application, cloud, Unix administration, security, and technology operations teams.
- Willingness to participate in shift coverage and on-call services.
- Candidates may complete a technical assessment such as Codility and interviews covering applied technical skills, design thinking, and engineering principles.
