Responsibilities
- Design and maintain database build and operational standards for security, patching, resilience, and high availability.
- Provide database design support and define scalable database architectures for development projects.
- Design backup, recovery, clustering, data management, and disaster recovery strategies.
- Develop automation for database deployment and maintenance using DevOps tooling and Infrastructure-as-Code practices.
- Build and maintain CI/CD pipelines for database changes and platform configuration.
- Implement Oracle database infrastructure in Microsoft Azure and migrate workloads from on-premises environments.
- Monitor database resources, manage capacity, investigate incidents, resolve service disruptions, and optimize performance.
- Perform database diagnostics and tuning using query plan analysis and Oracle tools including AWR, ASH, and ADDM.
- Document and execute backup, restore, upgrade, patching, and disaster recovery procedures.
- Partner with IT Security, Unix administrators, application teams, and cloud teams to provide technical guidance and escalation support.
- Participate in shift cover and on-call support, including planned maintenance outside normal business hours and on weekends.
Requirements
- Experienced database and DevOps engineering background supporting business-critical database platforms.
- Experience supporting Oracle and SQL database environments, including high availability, performance tuning, backup and recovery, and disaster recovery.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, cloud migration, and implementing Oracle database infrastructure in Azure.
- Experience with database automation, Infrastructure-as-Code, DevOps tooling, CI/CD pipelines, version control, secrets management, containers, and orchestration tools.
- Experience supporting database connectivity through ODBC, JDBC, and vendor-specific architectures.
- Experience with automation and scripting tools, database platform versions, high-availability environments, and on-call services.
- Ability to troubleshoot complex production issues, provide technical escalation leadership, and collaborate across database, application, cloud, security, and Unix teams.
