Responsibilities
- Own customer environments across application and infrastructure layers, including configurations, deployments, patching, and scaling.
- Execute and automate runbook-driven tasks such as SQL scripts, queue management, data fixes, backups, restores, and troubleshooting.
- Build self-service automation with PowerShell, Python, Bash, and GitHub Actions.
- Use Copilot and Claude AI for code generation, debugging, log analysis, and root cause analysis.
- Monitor system health with Datadog and respond to alerts through PagerDuty, Opsgenie, and ServiceNow.
- Troubleshoot and resolve application and infrastructure incidents and participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation.
- Partner with SRE to support platform reliability, document processes, mentor junior engineers, and eliminate operational toil.
Requirements
- Minimum five years of experience in systems, operations, or platform engineering roles.
- Hands-on experience across application and infrastructure domains, including production support, monitoring, and incident management.
- Strong SQL skills covering SSMS, backups, restores, troubleshooting, and data fixes.
- Experience administering Windows Server and Linux, including IIS, RDP, SSH, systemctl, bash, and cron.
- Experience with Datadog, alert triage, incident handling, and on-call or incident-management tools.
- Ability to automate with PowerShell, Python, or Bash and use Git and GitHub workflows.
- Knowledge of AWS or Azure fundamentals, server resizing and patching, TLS/certificates, load balancing, IIS, and Apache Tomcat.
- Experience with XML, JSON, property files, and configuration management.
- Strong attention to detail, ability to follow and improve runbooks, and ability to troubleshoot under pressure.
- Preferred experience with Terraform, Ansible, AI/ML-based observability or predictive alerting, and engineering-and-operations teams.
