Responsibilities

Own technical direction and architecture across Heartbeat AI’s mobile, energy data, IoT platform, and related engineering domains.
Make and drive implementation of technical decisions while holding the team accountable for execution.
Contribute hands-on to the team’s most difficult software engineering problems.
Translate business and product requirements into technical solutions.
Mentor and challenge engineers and build a high-performing engineering culture.
Design secure, reliable systems and APIs with machine-readable contracts and structured errors for AI-agent consumption.
Drive the team’s transition to safe agentic engineering while maintaining human accountability.
Architect the AI systems powering the product, including the energy management system and energy tariff capabilities.

At least 5 years of hands-on software development experience using multiple general-purpose programming languages.
Proven experience architecting scalable and secure systems with a strong focus on quality.
Extensive experience designing and implementing APIs for system integration and communication.
Experience communicating with business stakeholders and understanding the technical implications of their requirements.
Experience driving technical alignment and following through on critical technical decisions in fast-paced environments.
Experience designing systems and APIs for agent consumption, including structured errors and clear contracts that enable self-correction.
Ability to guide an engineering team through a transition to agentic engineering.
Experience architecting AI/ML-driven or data-intensive systems, such as forecasting or real-time data pipelines, ideally in an energy or IoT context.
Strong written and verbal English communication skills; German proficiency is a plus.
