Responsibilities
- Own technical direction and architecture across Heartbeat AI’s mobile, energy data, IoT platform, and related engineering domains.
- Make and drive implementation of technical decisions while holding the team accountable for execution.
- Contribute hands-on to the team’s most difficult software engineering problems.
- Translate business and product requirements into technical solutions.
- Mentor and challenge engineers and build a high-performing engineering culture.
- Design secure, reliable systems and APIs with machine-readable contracts and structured errors for AI-agent consumption.
- Drive the team’s transition to safe agentic engineering while maintaining human accountability.
- Architect the AI systems powering the product, including the energy management system and energy tariff capabilities.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on software development experience using multiple general-purpose programming languages.
- Proven experience architecting scalable and secure systems with a strong focus on quality.
- Extensive experience designing and implementing APIs for system integration and communication.
- Experience communicating with business stakeholders and understanding the technical implications of their requirements.
- Experience driving technical alignment and following through on critical technical decisions in fast-paced environments.
- Experience designing systems and APIs for agent consumption, including structured errors and clear contracts that enable self-correction.
- Ability to guide an engineering team through a transition to agentic engineering.
- Experience architecting AI/ML-driven or data-intensive systems, such as forecasting or real-time data pipelines, ideally in an energy or IoT context.
- Strong written and verbal English communication skills; German proficiency is a plus.
