Responsibilities
- Collaborate with product leaders to prototype possibilities and rapidly iterate on working software.
- Build backend business logic, extend RESTful APIs, integrate third-party services, develop frontend UI, and contribute throughout the codebase.
- Use AI tools and agents effectively while evaluating output and maintaining code quality.
- Improve system performance and resilience, upgrade the technology stack, and pursue ambitious product improvements.
- Instrument, observe, debug, and reliably operate software in production.
- Mentor one or two junior or mid-level engineers and independently deliver substantial features from concept to completion.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience on teams building full-stack cloud-native web applications.
- Experience with PHP preferred, or another object-oriented programming language.
- Experience building React applications in TypeScript.
- Experience creating maintainable software that balances practicality and elegance.
- Experience with MySQL, PHP-based ORMs, and raw SQL.
- Experience designing and building RESTful APIs and integrating third-party APIs.
- Ability to work remotely from the Eastern, Central, or Mountain time zones.
- Qualified to work in the United States or Canada.
- Strong product judgment, systems thinking, writing, software quality, and AI-assisted development skills.
- Preferred: experience with HIPAA-compliant software, clinical EMR/EHR systems, and AI-enabled workflows such as custom agents, evaluations, prompt libraries, or internal tooling.
