Responsibilities
- Partner with development teams and product managers to architect and build highly available, performant, and secure features.
- Develop methods to measure, monitor, and report application and infrastructure health.
- Develop deep knowledge of the application stack and troubleshoot application issues.
- Improve microservice performance and resolve scaling and performance problems.
- Manage capacity planning and capacity management.
- Support availability, latency, efficiency, change management, monitoring, and emergency response for engineering stacks.
- Participate in 24x7 on-call rotations.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience troubleshooting Unix/Linux systems.
- Understanding of networking concepts and protocols including TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, IPSec, GRE, and VPN.
- Experience with algorithms, data structures, complexity analysis, and software design.
- Programming experience in one or more of Java, Python, or Go.
- Experience managing large-scale web operations.
- Hands-on experience with Ansible, Kubernetes, SQL and NoSQL data stores, and cloud or infrastructure automation.
- Hands-on experience with OpenStack, AWS, or GCP.
- Experience with Sumo Logic, Grafana, Prometheus, and Elastic Stack.
- Knowledge of distributed systems is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in computer science or equivalent is required; a master’s degree in computer science or equivalent is strongly preferred.
- Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and cross-functional communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, own and deliver projects, and collaborate in a diverse, geo-distributed team.
