Responsibilities
- Elicit and maintain Software Requirements Specifications for safety-critical onboard computers.
- Design, develop, validate, and verify software artifacts in accordance with RTCA DO-178C up to DAL-A.
- Define software platform architectures covering partitioning, scheduling, resource allocation, and third-party software integration.
- Integrate RTOS BSPs, drivers, middleware, and application software for multisystem computing platforms.
- Develop common APIs and standardized access to RTOS, BSP, low-level I/O, and middleware capabilities.
- Implement embeddable mathematical, file system, time, and logging services.
- Support platform software certification and interface with certification authorities.
- Perform trade-off analyses, technical benchmarking, rapid prototyping, target-platform evaluation, and multicore board bring-up.
Requirements
- Advanced proficiency in C for real-time embedded systems.
- Experience with GNU toolchains and GCC, Clang/LLVM, and Diab compilers.
- Strong knowledge of ARM, PowerPC, or x86 and SoC architectures, including MMUs, caches, memory hierarchies, and pipelining.
- Expertise with avionics buses and networks including ARINC-429, MIL-STD-1553B, CAN, AFDX, and TSN, plus analog/discrete I/O.
- Experience with UART, SPI, I2C, PCIe, and DMA.
- Advanced knowledge of safety-critical RTOS and the ARINC-653 specification, with hands-on experience using COTS platforms such as Wind River VxWorks 653, PikeOS, Green Hills Integrity, or DEOS.
- In-depth knowledge of RTCA DO-178C and RTCA DO-330.
- Proficiency in Python for automation and understanding of JSON and XML serialization.
- Professional-level English suitable for negotiation.
- Valuable qualifications include Embedded Linux driver/platform development, UML and SysML modeling, Cameo or IBM Rhapsody, Polyspace, SciTools Understand, LDRA, processor performance monitoring, and experience with Jira and Confluence.
