Responsibilities

Own the foundational architecture of the cloud-native FCM platform, including concurrency models, data consistency, service boundaries, and integrations across clearing, risk, and reporting systems.
Design resilient, deterministic, high-throughput trade-processing systems that handle concurrency, partial failures, and asynchronous clearing acknowledgments.
Set technical standards through architecture sessions, code reviews, complex problem solving, mentoring, and engineering best practices.
Establish testing, observability, SLI/SLO, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code standards across the FCM platform.
Design compliance-critical systems with audit trails, segregation controls, reconciliation integrity, and regulatory checkpoints.
Partner with engineering leadership and cross-functional stakeholders to govern ledger, fund movement, reconciliation, and balance architecture.
Champion responsible AI-assisted coding, testing, and code-review workflows while preserving financial and audit correctness.

8–12+ years of progressive software engineering experience with demonstrated Staff-level impact or equivalent scope.
Deep experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems in cloud environments; GCP is strongly preferred, with AWS or Azure acceptable.
Hands-on experience with Kubernetes, event-driven architectures, and infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform.
Strong proficiency in modern backend languages such as Python, C++, or Go.
Experience using AI-assisted development tools for code generation, static analysis, or automated test synthesis in production environments.
Experience in financial services, capital markets, or brokerage technology, including trade lifecycle, clearing and settlement, financial correctness, reconciliation, segregation of funds, and audit integrity.
Proven technical authority, mentoring ability, end-to-end ownership, and strong communication skills.
Preferred experience includes FCM, clearing firm, or broker-dealer environments; CFTC/NFA or SEC/FINRA frameworks; CME clearing operations; treasury and money movement systems; and regulated-finance modernization or cloud migration.

Hybrid Chicago work schedule with in-office work Tuesday through Thursday and remote work Monday and Friday.
20 additional flex remote days annually and five company-wide office-optional weeks tied to major holidays.
Remote flexibility may be available for exceptional candidates in listed states.
