Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and refine AI agents for writing test plans and cases, analyzing results, searching documentation, and tracking work.
- Build and maintain agent skills, prompts, MCP servers, Python helpers, and other tool integrations.
- Improve agent reliability through source traceability, testing, review gates, and reduced invented values.
- Partner with optical test engineers to identify automation opportunities and develop working agent workflows.
- Document agent usage, gather feedback, and measure improvements in productivity or quality.
Requirements
- Currently pursuing a master's degree or PhD in computer science, software engineering, artificial intelligence or machine learning, computer engineering, electrical engineering, or a related field at an accredited US school.
- Proficiency in Python is preferred, with additional programming or scripting experience welcome.
- Coursework or project experience with LLMs, AI agents, prompt engineering, retrieval-augmented generation, or similar topics.
- Comfort with Git and collaborative software development.
- Ability to write clear technical documentation and explain technical designs to non-software engineers.
- Interest in applying AI to engineering workflows with strong attention to correctness.
- Experience with Cursor, VS Code agent or copilot workflows, Model Context Protocol, Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket, or GitHub is beneficial.
- Basic understanding of fiber-optical communication systems, DSP, or lab and test-data analysis is beneficial.
- Strong problem-solving, attention to detail, independent working ability, collaboration, and written and verbal communication skills are preferred.
