Responsibilities
- Lead technical strategy and execution across complex customer AI engagements.
- Design and build enterprise-scale AI architectures, including multi-agent orchestration, enterprise retrieval systems, and decision intelligence platforms.
- Define operational standards, evaluation frameworks, testing strategies, observability standards, incident-response playbooks, and production-readiness criteria.
- Create reusable engineering patterns, accelerators, and platforms that scale the FDE practice and reduce customer time-to-value.
- Mentor junior FDEs, contribute to interviewing and hiring, and coach engineers on system design, customer engagement, and production operations.
- Identify opportunities to expand AI adoption across customer organizations and share learnings with AWS services and the FDE practice.
- Travel 30–50% for customer engagements.
Requirements
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
- 5+ years of programming experience with at least one software programming language.
- 5+ years leading design or architecture for new and existing systems, including design patterns, reliability, and scaling.
- Experience mentoring, serving as a technical lead, or leading an engineering team.
- Experience communicating technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences, including senior stakeholders.
- Experience leading agentic and spec-driven development at production scale; experience developing AI agents is a plus.
- Experience with AI tools, including evaluation frameworks, agent tooling, RAG pipelines, and prompt engineering.
- Preferred: bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent.
- Preferred: experience with AWS services and building or deploying AI/ML applications at enterprise production scale.
- Preferred: founder, engineering lead, or startup-builder background with high ownership and urgency.
- Preferred: experience architecting and delivering complex, multi-component systems in customer production environments.
- Preferred: experience with React, TypeScript, Python, and/or Go.
- Preferred: experience leading customer-facing technical projects or managing external stakeholder relationships.
- Preferred: 3+ years in an Agile, startup, or rapidly scaling environment.
