Responsibilities
- Lead the Sustaining function and direct the day-to-day work, task assignment, prioritization, and quality review for junior engineers and contract resources.
- Own intake, triage, prioritization, investigation, and resolution of escalated Tier 2 customer issues.
- Deliver, review, and release well-tested defect fixes, patches, and maintenance updates while assessing regression risk.
- Analyze logs, telemetry, crash dumps, and field data to determine root causes and implement durable fixes.
- Coordinate on-call responses to high-severity production incidents and complete post-incident reviews.
- Create technical documentation, root-cause analyses, known-error records, and knowledge-base articles.
- Mentor junior engineers and contractors and build their diagnostic capabilities.
- Partner with Customer Support, Quality, and Product Engineering to reproduce issues and prevent repeat escalations.
- Analyze case and defect trends and drive engineering or process improvements through release.
- Identify, scope, size, prioritize, and implement application optimization and hardening improvements.
Requirements
- Proficiency in .NET and the ability to read and debug unfamiliar code in a live production codebase.
- Strong understanding of software development methodologies and hands-on experience with debugging, log analysis, and observability or monitoring tooling.
- Demonstrated ability to independently investigate incomplete data, test hypotheses, determine root cause, and drive fixes to closure.
- Strong communication skills for explaining technical status and root cause to customers and stakeholders during incidents.
- Proven ability to lead, mentor, and direct junior engineers and contract resources.
- Willingness and availability to participate in a rotating on-call schedule.
- Demonstrated ownership, composure under pressure, sound severity judgment, and ability to manage concurrent escalations.
- Highly self-motivated and proactive approach to identifying product optimizations and improvements.
