Responsibilities

  • Lead technical design and implementation for complex payments and cash-management banking systems.
  • Design and build Java/Spring Boot backend services and event-driven integrations using Kafka.
  • Own architecture decisions and make practical trade-offs involving business needs, risk, resilience, security, and long-term quality.
  • Guide developers through code reviews, design reviews, troubleshooting, technical spikes, and implementation support.
  • Design reliable account, payment, routing, validation, balance, statement, and customer-facing banking flows.
  • Work with internal platforms, data platforms, external systems, product owners, architects, business stakeholders, and vendors.
  • Support modernization of legacy capabilities into a maintainable, cloud-ready engineering setup.
  • Drive clean code, testability, monitoring, security, maintainability, data consistency, auditability, and recovery practices.

Requirements

  • Strong hands-on backend engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot.
  • Practical experience with architecture, system design, complex integrations, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
  • Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming technology and AWS or other cloud-native delivery.
  • Good relational database knowledge and experience designing for data consistency, auditability, and recovery.
  • Ability to lead developers technically while remaining hands-on with coding, reviews, troubleshooting, and implementation.
  • Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders and fluent spoken and written English.
  • Banking, payments, finance, or other regulated-domain experience is advantageous.
  • Experience with data platforms, data products, analytical integrations, or practical AI in software engineering is a plus.
