Responsibilities
- Lead technical design and hands-on implementation of Java and Spring Boot backend services.
- Own architecture decisions and design reliable banking flows for payments, accounts, routing, validation, balances, and statements.
- Build REST APIs and event-driven integrations using Kafka across internal platforms, data platforms, and external systems.
- Guide developers through code reviews, design reviews, troubleshooting, technical spikes, and day-to-day engineering decisions.
- Support modernization of legacy capabilities into maintainable, cloud-ready systems.
- Collaborate with product owners, architects, developers, platform teams, business stakeholders, and vendors.
- Drive clean code, testability, monitoring, security, maintainability, data consistency, auditability, recovery, and operational stability.
- Use AI tools pragmatically to improve engineering speed and quality.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on backend engineering experience with Java and Spring Boot.
- Experience with architecture, system design, complex integrations, APIs, microservices, and distributed systems.
- Experience with Kafka or similar event-streaming technology.
- AWS or other cloud-native delivery experience, with good database knowledge.
- Ability to lead developers technically while remaining hands-on with implementation.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical stakeholders and fluent spoken and written English.
- Banking, payments, finance, or other regulated-domain experience is advantageous.
- Experience with data platforms, data products, analytical integrations, or practical AI in software engineering is a plus.
- Candidates are primarily expected to be located within the Baltics.
