Base Salary
$174k - $274k/yr
Responsibilities
- Drive complex technical decisions and set technical direction for Confluence AI across teams and multiple quarters.
- Lead large, complex initiatives from architecture and prototyping through launch, iteration, and continuous improvement.
- Design scalable and resilient full-stack systems across user experiences, backend services, and AI integrations.
- Apply generative AI, retrieval, agents, evaluations, representative datasets, user feedback, and production monitoring to improve AI quality.
- Partner with machine learning and platform teams on grounding, context retrieval, orchestration, and safeguards.
- Build intuitive AI experiences and use experimentation and analytics to improve activation, repeat usage, retention, and customer value.
- Collaborate across product, design, engineering, data science, analytics, and Atlassian-wide teams.
- Mentor engineers, lead design reviews, contribute hands-on, and raise engineering standards.
Requirements
- Principal-level software engineering experience with the ability to lead complex technical initiatives and shape strategy across teams.
- Experience building full-stack experiences, backend services, and AI integrations.
- Experience applying generative AI, retrieval, agents, evaluation, experimentation, or related AI product techniques.
- Ability to design systems balancing performance, reliability, security, cost, quality, and maintainability.
- Ability to work cross-functionally, communicate technical strategy and tradeoffs, and mentor engineers across levels.
