Base Salary
$191k - $267k/yr
Responsibilities
- Build and ship scalable backend services powering Reddit experiences.
- Design and implement systems for authentication, authorization, and identity.
- Improve architecture performance, scalability, uptime, and quality.
- Select, scope, and drive high-leverage projects aligned with Reddit’s goals.
- Work with product management, security, client engineering, and backend teams on the IAM roadmap.
- Mentor, coach, and collaborate with technical contributors.
- Collaborate across Reddit Engineering and continuously develop technical and non-technical skills.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of experience designing and developing large-scale distributed backend systems.
- At least 2 years of experience in security-sensitive domains such as IAM, security, privacy, or anti-abuse.
- Technical understanding of identity concepts, OAuth2, OIDC, SAML, session management, ABAC, RBAC, ReBAC, and centralized authorization engines.
- Proficiency in one or more general-purpose programming languages, preferably Go.
- Experience with or curiosity to learn Kubernetes, CI/CD, AWS, and GCP.
- Experience identifying and driving high-impact projects aligned with company strategy.
- Strong empathy and excellent communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
