Base Salary
$107k - $157k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, version, and ship backend services and REST APIs on AWS, including serverless and event-driven components.
- Partner with architects, technical leads, and product owners to translate shared product and technical visions into designs and deliverables.
- Set engineering standards for quality, security, resiliency, and efficiency; participate in code reviews and mentor developers through pairing and feedback.
- Build reusable frameworks, automation, and orchestration solutions for multiple applications.
- Own quality end to end through unit, integration, and end-to-end testing, refactoring, and testing integrated into the delivery pipeline.
- Plan and drive complex technical projects from design through delivery, including work breakdown, risk identification, and rollout support.
- Support the operational health of services through observability, troubleshooting, on-call participation, and incident response.
- Use AI tools across design, coding, testing, and debugging while reviewing and validating AI-assisted work.
- Collaborate with globally distributed teams and communicate decisions and context clearly in writing.
Requirements
- BA/BS in Computer Science or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- At least 5 years of professional experience building and shipping backend software.
- Strong proficiency in at least one backend language such as Java, TypeScript, Python, Go, or Ruby.
- Experience designing, building, and versioning APIs.
- Solid understanding of relational databases, including schema design and query optimization.
- Advanced AWS knowledge, including Lambda, SQS/SNS, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, and IAM, with hands-on serverless and event-driven service experience.
- Experience owning CI/CD pipelines and deployments, including safe rollout and rollback practices.
- Proven discipline with unit, integration, and end-to-end testing in delivery pipelines.
- Hands-on experience with observability and troubleshooting tools.
- Experience using AI coding assistants in daily engineering work and validating AI-generated code before release.
- Strong written and verbal communication, mentoring experience, and participation in design reviews.

- For Canada-based roles, the stated starting base salary range is $107,000 to $157,300, with offers based on experience and geographic location and potentially exceeding the range.
