Responsibilities
- Discover and pitch commercially relevant narratives from commodity, maritime, and geopolitical datasets.
- Create interactive, static, and animated visual narratives from complex quantitative findings.
- Query, manipulate, analyze, and validate datasets using SQL and Python.
- Build interactive data experiences using JavaScript/TypeScript and contemporary frontend technologies.
- Collaborate with product managers, data engineers, market analysts, and product designers through publication.
- Establish visualization best practices, improve workflows, and mentor peers.
Requirements
- 7–10 years of experience in data journalism, information design, visual storytelling, or a closely related quantitative field.
- Ability to query, interrogate, and validate complex datasets using SQL, Python, or similar tools.
- Strong spatial analysis skills and proficiency with GIS technologies.
- Technical proficiency with JavaScript/TypeScript and contemporary frontend frameworks.
- Exceptional visual communication skills and a strong portfolio demonstrating editorial judgment and narrative structure.
- Interest in or familiarity with global commodities, energy markets, trading, or maritime transportation is a nice-to-have.
- A degree or MSc in Locational Analytics, Design, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related discipline is a nice-to-have.
- Interest in experimenting with AI tools and developing novel design and engineering workflows is a nice-to-have.
