Base Salary
$250k - $300k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own backend architecture across multiple services and team boundaries.
- Write production code daily and set standards for quality and reliability.
- Partner with engineering leads and product managers to scope large initiatives.
- Improve scalability, performance, and reliability of the platform.
- Identify and clear technical debt across teams.
- Build security and observability into systems from day one.
- Create instrumentation, pipelines, and tooling for meaningful insights.
- Mentor engineers and shape technical culture through reviews and coaching.
- Participate in technical interviews and help with hiring.
Requirements
- 8+ years of backend engineering experience, including roles as Staff, Principal, or technical lead.
- Experience designing and delivering systems that span multiple services.
- Deep expertise in backend systems, including APIs and distributed systems.
- Proficient in relevant technologies such as Java, Node.js, PostgreSQL, and AWS.
- Experience scaling platforms operationally and evolving production architecture.
- Ability to communicate technical tradeoffs clearly to various stakeholders.
- Mentorship experience and a commitment to raising the engineering bar.
- Experience in consumer, social, or marketplace companies is a plus.
