Responsibilities
- Design, implement, and iterate on mission, behavior, and motion planners for autonomous ground support equipment.
- Drive technical decisions across the planning stack, including algorithm selection, interface definition, and architecture.
- Prototype and evaluate optimization-based, search-based, and learning-augmented planning approaches and bring effective solutions to production.
- Collaborate with perception, controls, localization, and systems engineering teams to deliver an integrated autonomous driving system.
- Establish software development, functional safety, and systems engineering best practices for the planning domain.
- Mentor engineers through technical guidance, code reviews, and design discussions.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Math, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, Physics, or a related field.
- Extensive hands-on experience designing and implementing planning modules for autonomous systems shipped to production or deployed in real-world operations.
- Strong programming skills in C++ or Python and experience with Linux-based operating systems.
- Ability to independently drive ambiguous technical problems toward well-architected solutions.
- Excellent communication skills, proactiveness, and a strong sense of ownership.
- Preferred: MS or Ph.D. in Computer Science, Robotics, or a related field.
- Preferred: Mastery of Modern C++ 14 and beyond and safety-critical coding practices such as MISRA and ISO 26262.
- Preferred: 5+ years of industry experience in planning for robotic ground vehicles.
- Preferred: In-depth understanding of DDS frameworks such as ROS, ROS2, or other networking middleware.
- Preferred: Experience working in startup environments with rapidly changing priorities.
