Responsibilities
- Manage diagnostics for incidents, recurring defects, dumps, jobs, interfaces, locking, update tasks, authorizations, transports, and service risks.
- Perform or direct root-cause analysis using ABAP and HANA performance tools, SQL traces, workload evidence, and code-quality findings.
- Lead remediation of inefficient database access, legacy ABAP patterns, high-volume processing, unstable interfaces, and batch-performance bottlenecks.
- Maintain RAG assessments, problem records, risks, actions, service improvements, and a measurable stabilization backlog.
- Coordinate functional, Basis, database, integration, security, testing, and systems-integration teams across technical dependencies.
- Assure vendor fixes, estimates, test evidence, deployment plans, documentation, knowledge transfer, and service obligations.
- Use SAP Generative AI and Joule for Developers for incident analysis, code understanding, unit-test generation, optimization, knowledge articles, and custom-code remediation with validation and traceability.
- Coach team members, communicate evidence-based technical findings, facilitate decisions, own outcomes, and escalate material risks.
Requirements
- At least 12 years of experience is required, with typically 10–14 years of relevant SAP ABAP and enterprise application delivery experience.
- 15 years of full-time education is required.
- Strong expertise in SAP ABAP Development for HANA, classical ABAP, ABAP Objects, modern Open SQL, CDS views, AMDP, performance tuning, and SAP S/4HANA custom-code adaptation.
- Experience with RICEFW objects, DDIC, reports, module pools, enhancements, BAdIs, SmartForms or Adobe Forms, IDocs, BAPIs, RFC, ALE, background jobs, locking, and update tasks.
- Experience with code pushdown, CDS associations and annotations, DCL, analytical models, AMDP trade-offs, HANA SQL, and performance analysis using ST05, SAT, SQL Monitor, and runtime tools.
- Experience with ATC, SCI, CVA, Clean ABAP, secure coding, automated testing, transport governance, and controlled exception management.
- Knowledge of RAP, OData V2/V4, SAP Fiori/UI5, SAP BTP extensibility, SAP Integration Suite, SAP Cloud ALM, and CI/CD is desirable.
- Experience with SAP Generative AI capabilities, SAP Business AI, SAP Generative AI Hub, prompt engineering, grounding, orchestration, and responsible SAP delivery integration.
- Knowledge of Joule for Developers, including code understanding, predictive code completion, ABAP Unit test generation, dependency analysis, code optimization, and custom-code migration assistance.
- Demonstrated experience in distressed-programme or workstream diagnostics, stabilization, turnaround planning, remediation governance, and recovery execution.
- Relevant SAP certifications and exposure to programme assurance, quality audits, commercial controls, and multi-vendor systems-integration delivery are desirable.
