Base Salary

$115k - $235k/yr

Responsibilities

  • Lead development and begin architecting scalable, elastic distributed-system components for horizontal and vertical scaling.
  • Optimize code and systems for hyper-scale, high-throughput data processing and leverage data-plane platforms for retrieval, storage, and processing.
  • Define scalability, availability, durability, and service-level requirements for owned components.
  • Design fault-tolerant systems using redundancy, replication, automatic failover, load shedding, throttling, and rate limiting.
  • Define KPIs and telemetry and build dashboards, monitoring, and alerting for system health.
  • Design correctness, fault-injection, brownout, replication, and synchronization scenarios to preserve data integrity and availability.
  • Diagnose and resolve production issues, participate in incident response and operational support rotations, and mentor other engineers.
  • Implement security controls, execute remediation plans, and maintain cloud compliance documentation.
  • Develop infrastructure-as-code automation and change-management plans for patching, updates, and rollbacks.
  • Coordinate moderately complex projects, provide technical oversight, contribute to process improvements, and participate in candidate interviews.

Requirements

  • Experience or demonstrated capability in scalable distributed systems, high-throughput processing, elasticity, and large-scale data platforms.
  • Strong knowledge of fault tolerance, redundancy, replication, failover, partition handling, consistency, availability, and durability.
  • Ability to design performance and load testing, correctness validation, telemetry, dashboards, and alerting.
  • Experience troubleshooting production systems and participating in incident response and root-cause investigations.
  • Knowledge of multi-tenant security controls, encryption, access controls, remediation, and cloud compliance.
  • Experience developing infrastructure-as-code automation and managing patching, updates, and rollbacks.
  • Ability to provide technical leadership, coordinate moderately complex initiatives, mentor junior team members, and collaborate across organizations.
