Responsibilities
- Shape platform standardization and simplification supporting application rewrites, decommissioning, duplication reduction, and run-the-bank efficiency.
- Define and own reference architectures, technical designs, roadmaps, golden paths, reusable components, and reference implementations for onboarding workloads to Kubernetes-as-a-Service.
- Set technical direction and key technical decisions across multiple teams while removing architectural constraints and aligning delivery.
- Establish enforceable non-functional engineering guardrails, including policy-as-code, secure-by-default templates, and automated compliance evidence.
- Act as the senior technical authority for early product onboarding and ensure production readiness across resilience, observability, security, performance, and operability.
- Partner with developer platform teams to improve developer experience through standard interfaces, tooling, and engineering patterns.
- Influence senior stakeholders and manage complex organizational dependencies without direct authority.
Requirements
- Significant experience operating as a Principal Engineer or senior technical authority in large-scale enterprise environments.
- Hands-on platform engineering experience delivering shared services used by multiple application and product teams.
- Deep Kubernetes and container platform expertise, including multi-tenant design, cluster operations, security controls, and reliability considerations for Kubernetes-as-a-Service.
- Experience defining production-readiness expectations across resilience, observability, security, performance, and operability.
- Experience guiding MVP onboarding or early-lifecycle platform adoption with a focus on sustainable solutions and reduced rework.
- Pragmatic technical decision-making that balances target architecture with execution realities.
- Ability to influence across organizational boundaries and manage complex dependencies and senior stakeholders without direct authority.
- Experience partnering with developer platform teams to improve developer experience through standard interfaces, tooling, and patterns.
