Base Salary
$229k - $343k/yr
Responsibilities
- Evaluate alternative external data sources and develop advanced architectures to improve underwriting predictions for new customer segments.
- Lead ML operations and infrastructure initiatives, including scaling data ingestion and enabling more complex neural networks.
- Design and implement the full credit modeling stack and own the lifecycle of credit decisioning models in production.
- Use data science techniques to analyze messy datasets and inform business decisions.
- Identify and execute material improvements to credit policy for customers and the bank’s portfolio.
- Support model updates and troubleshoot issues in a real-time production environment.
- Balance innovation with safety, soundness, and compliance requirements within a regulated bank.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree with 8 years of related experience, a master’s degree with 6 years, or a PhD with 3 years is required.
- A technical degree in computer science, mathematics, statistics, physics, engineering, or a related field is required.
- Experience developing and deploying machine learning and statistical models in production environments is required.
- Strong quantitative intuition, data visualization, and sophisticated exploratory analysis skills are required.
- Full-stack proficiency across data pipelines and production-grade software architecture is preferred.
- Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences, including executive stakeholders, is required.
- Experience with tree-based models and gradient boosting is helpful but not required.
- Scientific research experience or an advanced degree is strongly preferred.
