Responsibilities
- Set technical direction and make trade-offs for reusable cyber ranges across realism, security, reliability, scalability, usability, performance, maintainability, and delivery.
- Improve Ansible and Packer architecture, standards, and automation for modular, testable, versioned, secure, repeatable, and drift-resistant configurations and images.
- Design and troubleshoot complex virtual networks, VMware infrastructure, Windows Server, Active Directory, Linux systems, identity services, security tooling, and ICS/OT environments.
- Diagnose failures across networks, operating systems, virtualization, images, blueprints, automation, platform services, and security products.
- Develop bounded interim solutions for platform gaps and partner with Product, Platform Engineering, Security, and senior engineers on long-term outcomes.
- Strengthen repository review, automated build and validation, release, documentation, runbook, and support-handoff practices.
- Lead cross-team technical decisions, create reusable standards and automation, communicate risks, mentor engineers, delegate ownership, and reduce single-person dependencies.
Requirements
- 6–8 years of experience designing, building, automating, and supporting complex infrastructure or cybersecurity environments at Staff-level scope.
- A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science is preferred, with equivalent combinations of education and experience considered.
- Advanced enterprise networking and troubleshooting experience across routing, switching, segmentation, firewalls, NAT, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, proxies, and multi-hop traffic paths.
- Hands-on Windows Server and Active Directory experience, including domain, authentication, authorization, DNS, Group Policy, certificates, or trusts, plus Linux administration across multiple distributions.
- Production experience with Ansible, Packer, VMware vCenter, and at least one additional hypervisor, virtualization platform, or cloud environment.
- Experience integrating enterprise security technologies and practical knowledge of offensive and defensive workflows, security telemetry, and ICS/OT constraints.
- Proficiency with Git and experience improving automated validation, testing, security, versioning, and release practices for infrastructure code, configuration, or VM images.
- Ability to lead ambiguous cross-team initiatives, influence senior technical stakeholders, mentor and delegate, communicate with technical and nontechnical audiences, and balance technical implementation with business and customer outcomes.
- Preferred experience includes cyber ranges, digital twins, training environments, simulation platforms, representative enterprise networks, Kubernetes, containers, infrastructure as code, artifact management, automated security scanning, restricted or high-security environments, and relevant technical certifications.
