Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable containerized Java Spring Boot microservices.
- Build high-performance APIs and event-driven integrations using Apache Kafka for firm-wide control systems.
- Develop APIs supporting React or Angular micro-frontend applications in collaboration with frontend engineers.
- Own assigned features from technical design and specifications through implementation, testing, and deployment.
- Use AI-powered development tools and code analyzers to improve development velocity and code quality.
- Participate in code reviews, share development best practices, and maintain standards for software design, containerization, and data caching.
- Analyze applications for vulnerabilities and security issues and perform testing and debugging.
- Consult with users, clients, and technology groups to identify system enhancements and resolve application issues.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of hands-on software development experience building robust backend systems.
- Strong proficiency in Java 17 or later and deep hands-on experience with Spring Boot.
- Experience with Apache Kafka, event streaming and messaging platforms, Redis, and in-memory caching mechanisms.
- Strong understanding and practical application of software design patterns, SQL, microservice architecture, and RESTful API development.
- Experience with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift and cloud-native application development.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Familiarity with Python and modern frontend frameworks such as React or Angular is preferred.
- Experience taking ownership of features or small-scale projects in a development team is preferred.
- Experience in financial services or another large, complex global environment is highly desirable.
- Clear written and verbal communication, problem-solving ability, decision-making skills, and the ability to manage deadlines and changing requirements.
