Base Salary

$189k - $245k/yr

Responsibilities

Build backend systems and APIs connecting AI models with scientific tools, datasets, and analysis workflows.
Develop tool-calling infrastructure, workflow runners, developer-facing SDKs, and CLIs.
Build agentic interfaces that allow scientists to run analyses, inspect intermediate steps, and iterate on results.
Design reliable long-running, multi-step workflows with testing, observability, logging, and maintainability.
Collaborate with scientific and technical teams to turn complex research workflows into usable, extensible software.

Strong Python engineering fundamentals and ability to write clean, typed, tested, and maintainable code.
Experience building at least one production library, CLI, API, SDK, backend service, workflow system, or developer platform.
Familiarity with LLM application development, agent frameworks, tool calling, MCP-style interfaces, or orchestration systems.
Comfort working with complex systems involving multiple components, external calls, domain-specific logic, and evolving user needs.
Strong instincts for abstraction, error handling, reliability, and scalable software design.
Strong communication skills and ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary environment.
Background or interest in computational biology, bioinformatics, protein design, single-cell genomics, biomedical AI, biomedical databases, or related scientific domains is preferred.
