Senior Backend Engineer - China

Responsibilities
- Lead engineering work in areas of expertise, share knowledge, establish engineering practices, and maintain code quality through reviews.
- Design and implement large-scale, highly available backend systems serving thousands to millions of concurrent players with a zero-downtime goal.
- Adopt modern container and cluster management technologies to improve backend elasticity and robustness.
- Improve and maintain a reliable backend development environment that supports social experiments and fast onboarding.
- Monitor backend health, respond to failures and glitches, and improve DevOps tools for automation and error prevention.
Requirements
- At least 5 years of backend development and production deployment experience.
- Thorough understanding of scalable, highly available backend systems, distributed systems, databases, caching, distributed transactions, and operations tooling.
- Ability to analyze logs across system layers and diagnose failures, suspicious behavior, and performance bottlenecks.
- Proficiency with Linux or macOS bash command-line tools and Python scripting.
- Deep knowledge of at least one of Go, Erlang, or C++.
- Deep knowledge of at least one SQL database, one NoSQL database, and one distributed message queue system.
- Experience managing production environments on a cloud provider service.
- Experience building systems involving eventually consistent or strongly consistent distributed transactions.
- Professional written and spoken English communication skills.
- Preferred experience with Go, AWS or GCP, Kubernetes, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, NATS, and Kafka.
