Responsibilities
- Design and develop scalable RESTful APIs, microservices, and event-driven backend systems.
- Own features through requirements, architecture, implementation, testing, deployment, monitoring, and production support.
- Participate in architecture, code, API, and engineering governance reviews and influence technical decisions across teams.
- Build and maintain unit, integration, contract, performance, and API automation tests.
- Improve software quality, deployment velocity, reliability, observability, performance, and production health.
- Mentor and guide engineers on design principles, coding standards, and engineering best practices.
- Contribute to reusable frameworks, shared platforms, engineering accelerators, and developer productivity initiatives.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience with Java, microservices frameworks, and enterprise application development.
- Proven experience designing RESTful APIs, microservices, event-driven architectures, and large-scale cloud-native applications.
- Knowledge of API security, authentication, and authorization using OAuth2, JWT, OpenID Connect, and mutual TLS.
- Understanding of distributed systems, resiliency, fault tolerance, service discovery, caching, messaging, and scalability.
- Experience with relational and NoSQL databases such as PostgreSQL, Oracle, MongoDB, or DynamoDB.
- Experience building and deploying applications in cloud environments, preferably AWS and its EKS, ECS, Lambda, API Gateway, RDS, DynamoDB, S3, CloudWatch, and IAM services.
- Experience with JUnit, Mockito, Test Containers, Wire Mock, and API automation tools.
- Familiarity with Splunk, ELK, Grafana, Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, or similar observability platforms.
- Expertise in domain-driven design, microservices architecture, API-first development, software design patterns, containerization, orchestration, infrastructure automation, and cloud-native practices.
- Knowledge of secure software development, application security, performance engineering, AI-assisted development, and Site Reliability Engineering principles.
- Experience leading technical design discussions, influencing architecture decisions, mentoring engineers, and collaborating with globally distributed teams.
- Experience with Test-Driven Development, automated testing, shift-left quality practices, continuous integration, continuous delivery, and monitoring.
- Experience contributing to reusable platforms, open-source projects, or developer productivity initiatives is highly desirable.
