Responsibilities
- Lead large-scale database migration projects for acquisitions, client onboarding, and platform growth while planning for minimal downtime, rollback strategies, and zero data loss.
- Design and execute blue/green deployment strategies, data archiving, and partitioning across relational and document data stores.
- Use AI-powered automation and spec-driven workflows to build runbooks, diagnostics, operational tooling, and database platform changes.
- Guide engineers in selecting and delivering fit-for-purpose database solutions across MySQL, PostgreSQL, SQL Server, and other data store types.
- Collaborate with the Data Insights team on reliable access patterns, security and governance alignment, and workload onboarding.
- Develop and share high-quality documentation and knowledge resources for engineers.
- Participate in incident response and an on-call rotation to maintain data infrastructure health.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience running and operating MySQL and/or PostgreSQL in production environments.
- At least 2 years of experience with AWS cloud services.
- Solid understanding of database internals, backup and recovery, replication, performance tuning, high availability, and relational database concepts.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving, communication, and technical explanation skills.
- Experience working in a distributed team.
- Preferred experience with Terraform or similar Infrastructure as Code tools for database infrastructure provisioning.
- Preferred familiarity with AI-assisted development workflows and tools such as Cursor and Claude.
- Preferred exposure to lakehouse and analytics infrastructure such as Databricks, Apache Iceberg, and Unity Catalog.
