Responsibilities
- Lead large-scale database migration projects with minimal downtime, rollback strategies, and zero data loss.
- Design and execute blue/green rollouts, data archiving, and partitioning across relational and document data stores.
- Use AI-powered automation and spec-driven workflows to build runbooks, diagnostics, and database platform tooling.
- Guide engineers in selecting and delivering fit-for-purpose database solutions.
- Partner with Data Insights on reliable access patterns, security, governance, and workload onboarding.
- Create and share high-quality technical documentation and knowledge resources.
- Participate in incident response and an on-call rotation to maintain data infrastructure health.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of hands-on experience operating MySQL and/or PostgreSQL in production, including understanding of database internals.
- At least 2 years of experience with AWS cloud services.
- Strong knowledge of database backup and recovery, replication, performance tuning, and high availability.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities.
- Strong communication skills for explaining complex technical topics to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Experience working in a distributed team.
- Experience with Terraform for infrastructure provisioning is preferred.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and Claude is preferred.
- Exposure to Databricks, Apache Iceberg, and Unity Catalog or similar lakehouse and analytics infrastructure is preferred.
