Base Salary

Responsibilities
- Design, administer, and optimize secure, scalable, and highly available enterprise MySQL database platforms.
- Engineer and maintain replication, backup and recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, and recovery-testing solutions.
- Develop production-quality code and automation for database provisioning, deployments, upgrades, patching, maintenance, and monitoring.
- Build and maintain Terraform Infrastructure as Code delivered through GitHub and GitHub Actions.
- Define and track SLOs and implement monitoring, alerting, and dashboards for database health and performance.
- Lead production incident response, root-cause analysis, and blameless postmortems, and implement preventative solutions and self-service automation.
- Use and validate GitHub Copilot CLI, Copilot app, and Copilot in VS Code for coding, troubleshooting, testing, and documentation.
- Troubleshoot databases, Linux, Kubernetes, networking, storage, and cloud infrastructure, and support application teams with schema design, query performance, capacity planning, and safe database changes.
- Lead database modernization and migrations from traditional platforms to cloud-native architectures and managed services.
Requirements
- Expert knowledge of MySQL administration, replication, backup and recovery, high availability, and performance tuning.
- Strong Linux administration and troubleshooting skills across databases, infrastructure, networking, and cloud environments.
- Ability to develop, test, and maintain production-quality code and automation using Python, Go, Java, C#, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages.
- Hands-on experience with Terraform, Infrastructure as Code, Git workflows, GitHub, and GitHub Actions.
- Experience managing databases in cloud environments; Microsoft Azure experience is preferred.
- Working knowledge of SRE practices including SLOs, observability, incident management, postmortems, and operational automation.
- Hands-on experience with GitHub Copilot CLI, Copilot app, or Copilot in VS Code, including reviewing and validating AI-generated output.
- Strong networking fundamentals including DNS, TCP/IP, load balancing, firewalls, SSL/TLS, and virtual networking.
- Experience supporting databases on VMs or Kubernetes is preferred.
- Experience building AI-assisted or agent-driven automation workflows is preferred.
