Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain backend APIs supporting experimentation products.
- Evolve and manage a GraphQL gateway that unifies access to experimentation data.
- Integrate multiple APIs into a single GraphQL gateway.
- Solve complex technical problems and improve development processes, efficiency, and business outcomes.
- Lead technical architecture discussions and guide long-term software design decisions.
- Refactor and simplify code using design patterns where appropriate.
- Mentor, coach, and improve the performance of junior team members.
Requirements
- At least 8 years of hands-on software engineering development experience.
- Extensive knowledge of at least one backend language, such as Perl, Java, NodeJS (JavaScript), or Python.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Computer or Electrical Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or 5 years of progressively responsible experience in the specialty as an equivalent.
- Extensive experience with domain-based systems design, including API design, management, documentation, and governance.
- Strong communication, collaboration, mentoring, coaching, and training skills.
- Experience driving technical, business, and people initiatives that improve productivity, performance, and quality.
- Experience with MySQL or a similar relational database.
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes is a plus.
- Practical experience with GraphQL and API development is a plus.
- Experience working across teams in different time zones is a plus.
- Experience with experimentation, statistics, and A/B testing is a plus.
