Responsibilities

  • Build and optimize foundational watchOS software for device performance and power efficiency.
  • Architect and implement system-level functionality such as process lifecycle management, memory reclamation, and 64-bit OS transitions.
  • Diagnose and resolve significant power and performance issues in other teams’ code.
  • Build and maintain tools for modeling and analyzing performance and memory.
  • Conduct investigative research and prototype technologies for future hardware and software features.
  • Collaborate with Performance, Power, OS, Hardware, firmware, framework, and application teams.

Requirements

  • At least 8 years of industry experience.
  • Deep technical understanding and hands-on experience with software development and lifecycle management.
  • Experience with low-level operating-system systems, including kernels, Darwin, or drivers.
  • Deep experience with power and performance measurement and investigation techniques.
  • Strong computer science fundamentals.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal collaboration skills.
  • Experience defining or contributing to application or systems architecture is preferred.
  • Ability to work across hardware, sensors, firmware, frameworks, and applications is preferred.
  • Additional experience in graphics, UI, or networking is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving and debugging skills, particularly for ambiguous or undefined problems, are preferred.
