Responsibilities
- Design and build secure serverless and microservices APIs on AWS using Lambda and API Gateway.
- Create agent-ready and tool-calling interfaces, including MCP-based patterns, schemas, machine identities, and guardrails.
- Support distributed-system and data integration through event-driven patterns, retrieval, and vector-data access.
- Implement IAM, token-based authentication, identity-provider integrations, and access controls for human and autonomous callers.
- Build logging, monitoring, tracing, audit trails, and human oversight for API and AI-driven traffic.
- Assess technical debt, recommend modernization approaches, and support deployment planning, cutover, and post-go-live stabilization.
- Contribute to PostgreSQL, document-store, and vector-store data architecture with data engineering teams.
Requirements
- Strong hands-on experience designing and building production APIs and microservices in complex or regulated environments.
- Hands-on AWS serverless experience with Lambda and API Gateway, plus security and networking fundamentals including IAM and VPC.
- Solid understanding of RESTful APIs, integration patterns, and distributed systems.
- Proficiency in at least one backend language such as Python, with strong software engineering practice using Git, code review, unit testing, and CI/CD.
- Experience across CI/CD, release planning, cutover, post-go-live stabilization, and production troubleshooting.
- Experience with observability tooling such as CloudWatch, ELK, Prometheus, or Grafana.
- Ability to communicate architecture decisions to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Preferred exposure to AI and agentic integration, tool-calling or function-calling APIs, MCP, Amazon Bedrock, Bedrock Agents, Knowledge Bases for Bedrock, or vector search.
- Preferred experience with GraphQL and Apollo, event streaming such as Apache Kafka, or relevant AWS certifications.
