Responsibilities
- Design, build, and evolve scalable backend services for SOFIA’s conversational and purchasing experiences.
- Participate in technical architecture decisions focused on scalability, flexibility, and rapid iteration.
- Own developed solutions across design, development, deployment, maintenance, and production impact.
- Integrate internal services and external APIs to create complete travel experiences.
- Contribute to AI capabilities through prompt, tool, and conversational-flow design.
- Ensure code quality through clean, maintainable, product-oriented engineering practices.
- Identify user-experience improvement opportunities and propose innovative technical solutions.
- Participate in code reviews and technical discussions.
- Monitor and optimize service performance and reliability.
- Collaborate with product, UX, and frontend teams on integrated end-to-end experiences.
- Contribute to frontend development when needed.
Requirements
- More than five years of experience developing backend applications.
- Experience with JVM-based languages such as Java or Scala.
- Knowledge of relational and non-relational databases.
- Understanding of API design and service architecture.
- Ability to work in changing environments with an emphasis on rapid iteration and continuous learning.
- Interest in artificial intelligence, prompting, and conversational systems.
- Experience with or willingness to learn modern frontend languages such as React is preferred.
- Familiarity with microservices architectures and interest or prior experience in AI-based products are nice to have.
