Base Salary
$115k - $235k/yr
Responsibilities
- Lead development and begin architecting scalable distributed systems for virtual networking control-plane services.
- Optimize systems for large-scale data processing, high throughput, elasticity, and efficient data retrieval, storage, and processing.
- Design fault-tolerant systems with redundancy, replication, automatic failover, consistency and availability strategies, load shedding, throttling, and rate limiting.
- Define scalability, reliability, availability, durability, KPI, telemetry, and service-level expectations for owned components.
- Build dashboards, telemetry systems, alerting mechanisms, and complex correctness and fault-injection test scenarios.
- Diagnose, debug, and resolve active-system issues; support incident response, root-cause investigations, and operational support rotations.
- Implement security controls, encryption, access controls, security-gap remediation, and compliance measures for multi-tenant cloud infrastructure.
- Develop automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code tools and support patching, updating, rollback, and change-management processes.
- Mentor others in troubleshooting, performance, and operational practices.
Requirements
- Experience developing and architecting scalable distributed systems in large-scale cloud environments.
- Experience with distributed state management, high-throughput processing, fault tolerance, replication, synchronization, and network reliability techniques.
- Ability to design performance, load, correctness, fault-injection, and brown-out testing scenarios.
- Ability to build telemetry, dashboards, alerting, and monitoring systems for system health and reliability.
- Experience with operational troubleshooting, incident response, root-cause analysis, and production support.
- Knowledge of security controls, encryption, access management, security remediation, and cloud compliance standards.
- Experience developing automation scripts and infrastructure-as-code tools for cloud infrastructure.
- Experience mentoring engineers and defining operational readiness and service-level expectations.
