Responsibilities
- Write efficient, production-grade Python for calculation logic and structured time-series datasets.
- Own features end-to-end from scoping and design through implementation, deployment, monitoring, and iteration.
- Design and maintain reliable Python backend services and REST or gRPC APIs.
- Design, query, index, and optimize MongoDB schemas and aggregation pipelines.
- Deploy and operate containerized services on GCP using services such as Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Storage.
- Contribute to software and infrastructure architecture decisions and technical system design.
- Build comprehensive pytest suites and enforce code quality with static analysis tools.
- Collaborate through code reviews, technical documentation, shared standards, and clear communication of tradeoffs.
Requirements
- Production experience with Python 3.13+, type annotations, and async/await.
- Experience designing versioned REST or gRPC APIs with OpenAPI contracts.
- Hands-on experience with Flask and/or FastAPI and Gunicorn for production services.
- Practical knowledge of SOLID principles and clean architecture.
- Experience using pandas or numpy for basic statistical and exploratory analysis of structured datasets.
- Experience delivering features to production in cloud-based SaaS products across the development, deployment, and monitoring lifecycle.
- Production experience with MongoDB schema design, indexing, aggregation pipelines, and MongoEngine or PyMongo.
- Experience with uv or a similar dependency and virtual-environment management tool.
- Experience writing pytest suites with fixtures, parameterization, and mocked external services.
- Experience with Docker and Docker Compose, including keeping container images lean.
- Experience enforcing code quality with tools such as ruff and pyright.
- Preferred experience deploying services on GCP, particularly Cloud Run, Cloud Functions, and Cloud Storage.
- Preferred exposure to LLM APIs or agent frameworks and integrating AI capabilities into product features.
- Experience in the oil and gas industry or a Petroleum Engineering background is preferred.
