Base Salary
$124k - $222k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and enhance distributed services using Kafka, Redis, RabbitMQ, and related technologies.
- Develop and deploy distributed services and software modules across Kubernetes, OpenStack, bare-metal, private-cloud, and public-cloud environments.
- Build observability modules, alerts, lifecycle-management automation, and production infrastructure components.
- Operate, tune, optimize, and support large-scale distributed-service clusters, including participation in an on-call rotation.
- Champion resiliency, operational excellence, streaming, messaging, and caching across Workday infrastructure.
- Evaluate and implement open-source and cloud-native tools and partner with application, service, and Federal Cyber Defense teams.
- Manage and optimize Workday deployments in U.S. AWS cloud regions while supporting security, governance, risk, compliance, and platform security health.
Requirements
- U.S. citizenship is required.
- At least 5 years of distributed systems experience, software engineering and systems/infrastructure/platforms experience, and experience using Ruby, Golang, Python, Java, or Scala.
- At least 5 years of experience working on U.S. Federal projects.
- Experience operating large-scale SaaS platforms and working with systems and networking across on-premises and cloud environments.
- Experience developing distributed systems that perform well and degrade gracefully under excessive load.
- Experience with Chef, Kubernetes, Helm, and ArgoCD for configuration management and service deployment.
- Development experience with languages such as Java, C/C++, Erlang, Python, and Golang.
- Ability to learn complex open-source service internals through code inspection.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including explaining complex technical details to non-team partners.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government security clearance; an active TS/SCI with CI Poly is preferred.
- DoD 8570/8140 compliance with at least IAT Level II certification, a current Computing Environment credential, and an approved specialty certification such as CompTIA CySA+, GICSP, or CASP+ is preferred.
