Responsibilities

  • Lead the technical design, development, and delivery of backend services and platforms.
  • Drive architecture decisions in collaboration with architects and engineering teams.
  • Provide technical leadership, mentorship, code reviews, design reviews, and day-to-day engineering guidance.
  • Define and promote engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality guidelines.
  • Deliver features and enhancements meeting business, user, performance, and reliability requirements.
  • Troubleshoot complex production issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
  • Ensure software quality through automated testing, code reviews, and continuous integration practices.
  • Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Improve performance, security, scalability, and maintainability across backend services.
  • Identify technical risks, propose mitigation strategies, and address architectural and operational challenges.
  • Support engineer growth through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering.
  • Expert-level Kotlin proficiency and highly desirable Java experience.
  • Strong experience designing and building microservice architectures.
  • Strong Quarkus proficiency; Spring Framework experience is a plus.
  • Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers such as Kafka.
  • Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, resilience, and observability.
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and version control systems such as Git.
  • Strong knowledge of performance optimization, secure coding practices, and application security.
  • Experience working in Agile environments and applying DevOps practices.
  • Strong knowledge of core AWS services and Kubernetes.
  • Proven experience leading technical initiatives and influencing architectural decisions across teams.
  • Banking, fintech, or highly regulated enterprise experience is a plus.
  • Fluent spoken and written English is required.
