Responsibilities
- Lead the technical design, development, and delivery of backend services and platforms.
- Drive architecture decisions in collaboration with architects and engineering teams.
- Provide technical leadership, mentorship, code reviews, design reviews, and day-to-day engineering guidance.
- Define and promote engineering best practices, coding standards, and quality guidelines.
- Deliver features and enhancements meeting business, user, performance, and reliability requirements.
- Troubleshoot complex production issues, identify root causes, and implement sustainable solutions.
- Ensure software quality through automated testing, code reviews, and continuous integration practices.
- Collaborate with product managers, architects, and engineering teams to translate business requirements into technical solutions.
- Improve performance, security, scalability, and maintainability across backend services.
- Identify technical risks, propose mitigation strategies, and address architectural and operational challenges.
- Support engineer growth through coaching, mentoring, and knowledge sharing.
Requirements
- 10+ years of professional experience in backend software engineering.
- Expert-level Kotlin proficiency and highly desirable Java experience.
- Strong experience designing and building microservice architectures.
- Strong Quarkus proficiency; Spring Framework experience is a plus.
- Experience with event-driven architectures and message brokers such as Kafka.
- Strong understanding of distributed systems, scalability, resilience, and observability.
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and version control systems such as Git.
- Strong knowledge of performance optimization, secure coding practices, and application security.
- Experience working in Agile environments and applying DevOps practices.
- Strong knowledge of core AWS services and Kubernetes.
- Proven experience leading technical initiatives and influencing architectural decisions across teams.
- Banking, fintech, or highly regulated enterprise experience is a plus.
- Fluent spoken and written English is required.
