Base Salary
$180k - $220k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the end-to-end lifecycle of power-control and orchestration applications from algorithm development through production deployment and maintenance.
- Contribute to the Power Applications codebase and establish code-quality standards, architecture practices, and engineering workflows.
- Coordinate data scientists and software engineers through design, architecture, code review, mentorship, and technical planning.
- Design repeatable continuous-delivery workflows that move prototype algorithms into hardened deployed applications.
- Define system boundaries, data contracts, and service-level agreements between Power Applications and other teams.
- Contribute to Karman platform architecture and ensure power-flow-control subsystems integrate coherently.
- Build applications for continuous operation, reliability, scale, fault tolerance, graceful degradation, and observability.
- Travel up to 10% of the time for company retreats and key on-site engagements.
Requirements
- 10+ years of software engineering experience, including technical leadership on complex production systems.
- Demonstrated ability to lead engineers through architecture, code review, mentorship, and technical quality improvements.
- Substantial experience communicating and working with stakeholders across teams.
- Strong project management and technical planning skills, including sequencing work, managing dependencies, and translating product requirements into technical designs.
- Strong foundation in distributed systems and reliability engineering, including fault tolerance, graceful degradation, observability, and testing for systems that cannot go down.
- Experience taking software from prototype to hardened production while platform requirements are evolving.
- Proficiency in Python and at least one systems language: C++, Rust, or Go.
- Hands-on experience with real-time, low-latency, or control systems is preferred.
- Experience with edge or embedded computing, especially NVIDIA platforms, Jetson-class devices, CUDA, or NVML, is preferred.
- Background in power systems, energy, industrial control, robotics, or another physical-world real-time domain is preferred.
- Experience productionizing ML models or algorithms with data science teams is preferred.
