Responsibilities
- Own and extend a Python-based embedded firmware test automation framework across multiple Nitro card generations and hardware platforms.
- Design specification-driven tests for firmware correctness, fault tolerance, performance, hardware interfaces, communication protocols, and cross-subsystem interactions.
- Integrate pre-merge and post-merge firmware validation into CI/CD pipelines and optimize validation trigger policies and cycle times.
- Analyze firmware logs, system traces, and hardware diagnostics to troubleshoot failures and develop regression suites.
- Collaborate with firmware, hardware, and silicon validation teams on new-generation silicon bring-up, test plans, testability, and production quality gates.
- Mentor teammates on testing practices and embedded system architecture.
Requirements
- Bachelor's or master's degree in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
- At least 5 years of experience in embedded-systems testing, firmware validation, or hardware-software integration testing.
- Strong Python proficiency, including pytest frameworks, test infrastructure design, and tooling development.
- Deep understanding of I2C/SMBus, SPI, UART, and register-level hardware interfaces.
- Hands-on experience with Jenkins or an equivalent CI/CD system for firmware build and test automation.
- Strong debugging skills across embedded software and firmware systems, including runtime behavior, logs, traces, and hardware diagnostics.
- Familiarity with Linux-based embedded systems.
- Experience with post-silicon and next-generation hardware validation and bring-up, including virtual platforms and emulation for early firmware validation.
- Preferred experience with ARM-based microcontrollers or SoCs.
