Base Salary
$200k - $250k/yr
Responsibilities
- Own the data tier end-to-end, designing schemas and access patterns that scale.
- Tune Aurora for latency and throughput, setting standards for database interactions.
- Lead major infrastructure initiatives, including capacity planning and zero-downtime migrations.
- Manage the CDC pipeline from Aurora to Snowflake, ensuring schema evolution and reliability.
- Drive observability using tools like pganalyze, CloudWatch, and Honeycomb.
- Build tooling and guardrails for migration reviews and slow query pipelines.
- Support and evolve the rest of the stack, including OpenSearch, Redis, and message brokers.
Requirements
- Deep expertise in PostgreSQL, including EXPLAIN, MVCC, and lock contention.
- Strong ORM fluency, particularly with Django, SQLAlchemy, or similar frameworks.
- Experience with production CDC, ideally using AWS DMS.
- Hands-on experience with observability tools like pganalyze and CloudWatch.
- Proficiency in automation and Infrastructure as Code (IaC) using Python, Go, or Terraform.
- Track record of leading cross-team initiatives and writing effective design documentation.
