Responsibilities
- Own the architecture and roadmap for Scribe’s ingestion gateway, event-lifecycle services, streaming and data-lake pipelines, Portal APIs, and MCP services.
- Lead Project MEGA, including typed event specifications, producer-side validation, CI guardrails, and agent-driven legacy-event migration.
- Design and deliver a governed clickstream data layer and event vocabulary for funnel analytics and user-understanding use cases.
- Own platform cost optimization through event lineage, deprecation, retention policies, gateway right-sizing, stream retirement, and chargeback.
- Write RFCs, drive cross-team technical decisions, and represent Scribe in architecture and operational-excellence reviews.
- Own on-call, incident response, post-mortems, fire drills, SLA monitoring, and data-loss monitoring for the critical platform.
- Lead and mentor engineers across diverse technical stacks and develop future technical leads.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field.
- At least 7 years of software engineering experience, including technical lead or architect experience for a platform used by many teams.
- Proficiency in Go or willingness to learn it, with hands-on experience in Python or Scala.
- Experience developing large-scale backend and streaming systems, including high-load, low-latency, reliable, and cost-efficient systems.
- Experience defining and enforcing data contracts or schemas across many producer teams, including versioning, migration, and deprecation.
- Experience owning cloud costs for a large AWS data platform, including attribution, retention, right-sizing, and measured savings.
- Preferred experience with Apache Flink, Apache Spark, Iceberg or Delta Lake, LLM agents, MCP servers, evaluations and guardrails, mobile analytics instrumentation, clickstream analytics, CI/CD tools, Terraform, and Kubernetes.
