Base Salary
$149k - $228k/yr
Responsibilities
- Maintain and improve BigCommerce’s containerized development environment.
- Manage cloud-hosted virtual machines in Google Cloud Platform.
- Automate repetitive manual processes and keep virtual machines up to date.
- Document technical architecture and user features.
- Educate engineers on tool usage and process improvements.
- Help define the team roadmap and gather requirements from engineers.
- Create and monitor statistics measuring tooling health and functionality.
- Collaborate with distributed teams across the world.
- Contribute to project discovery, design, implementation, and project initiatives.
- Participate in the team’s on-call rotation and mentor contributors.
Requirements
- At least 7 years of experience as an infrastructure or software engineer.
- A comprehensive software engineering, computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, management information systems, or equivalent degree, or relevant work experience.
- Knowledge of configuration management systems such as Puppet, Chef, or Ansible.
- Experience with Linux systems administration, Ruby scripting, and Bash.
- Understanding of modern programming and design principles.
- Ability to write tested, maintainable, high-quality code.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills for geographically distributed teams.
- Willingness to learn new languages, tools, and technologies.
- Experience leading a project initiative and working on several projects.
- Comfort working as a contributor and mentor in a collaborative Agile environment.
- Highly proactive, results-oriented, and strong in critical thinking.

- The role may be eligible for variable compensation, equity, and benefits according to local policies.
- The posted national base salary range is $149,000.00 to $228,000.00.
