
Staff Software Engineer - Networking

Responsibilities
- Design, build, test, deploy, and maintain production network services and automation using Go and Python.
- Develop APIs, controllers, integrations, and tools for network provisioning, configuration, validation, and lifecycle management.
- Advance Network as Code through version-controlled, peer-reviewed, tested, and automated network changes.
- Design and evolve secure, scalable, multi-tenant hybrid connectivity between on-premises environments and GCP.
- Build infrastructure-as-code modules, self-service capabilities, telemetry, observability, and operational safeguards.
- Optimize reliable, low-latency, high-throughput data movement for validation environments and hardware-in-the-loop simulations.
- Implement segmentation, least-privilege access, encryption in transit, and automated policy enforcement.
- Define and improve SLOs, manage error budgets, participate in on-call and incident response, and lead blameless incident reviews.
- Provide technical leadership on complex projects and mentor other engineers as a hands-on individual contributor.
Requirements
- Proven experience building and operating production network software and automation.
- Strong software engineering, networking, Linux, and cloud infrastructure skills.
- Experience with production services, distributed systems, APIs, concurrency, automated testing, debugging, CI/CD, and operations.
- Strong networking fundamentals including routing, switching, TCP/IP, DNS, data center networking, and BGP.
- Hands-on experience with GCP networking, including VPCs, Shared VPCs, routing, firewall policies, load balancing, and hybrid connectivity.
- Experience with Terraform or Ansible for infrastructure automation and configuration management.
- Experience with Kubernetes and continuous or GitOps-based delivery workflows.
- Familiarity with Prometheus, Grafana, Telegraf, or centralized logging platforms.
- Experience with on-call support and incident response, plus the ability to lead projects and mentor engineers.
- A related bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience is preferred.
- Five or more years of relevant software, networking, or SRE experience is preferred.
- Professional networking or cloud certification is preferred; large-scale networks, SRE practices, high-throughput data systems, EVPN, or VXLAN experience is a plus.
