Responsibilities

  • Define end-to-end target and transitional architectures for payment and compliance platforms integrating SWIFT, ACH, RTP, and related rails.
  • Establish reference architectures, design patterns, and guardrails addressing performance, resiliency, security, and compliance.
  • Lead architecture reviews, threat modeling, resiliency assessments, design forums, and technical decision-making.
  • Produce architecture diagrams, sequence and data-flow models, and actionable technical documentation.
  • Translate AML/KYC, data-retention, transaction-monitoring, and other regulatory requirements into technical designs and control guidance.
  • Architect transaction-monitoring, surveillance, detection, investigation, reporting, and other financial-crime capabilities.
  • Define critical data elements, data models, lineage, mappings, data-quality rules, metadata management, and master/reference-data strategies.
  • Collaborate with data engineering on scalable streaming and batch pipelines and ensure data reliability, timeliness, and completeness.
  • Partner across engineering, data, compliance, business, and regulatory groups to resolve trade-offs and deliver integrated solutions.
  • Mentor architects and engineers and contribute to roadmap planning, capacity and cost optimization, and operational excellence.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in software, solution, data, or enterprise architecture.
  • Prior hands-on engineering experience in areas such as application development, integration, or data engineering.
  • Proven delivery of large-scale, mission-critical payment systems and/or financial-crime platforms in regulated financial-services environments.
  • Deep understanding of SWIFT, ISO 20022, NACHA/ACH, RTP, messaging, clearing and settlement flows, and exception handling.
  • Strong data-architecture expertise covering relational and distributed databases, schema design, critical data elements, data quality, lineage, mapping, and governance.
  • Experience with integration patterns, event streaming, messaging, microservices, distributed-system performance, and resiliency engineering.
  • Knowledge of encryption, key management, identity and authorization, logging and monitoring, auditability, and regulatory reporting controls.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to explain complex technical concepts to nontechnical audiences and regulators.
  • Ability to lead design forums, resolve technical conflicts, influence stakeholders, and drive consensus.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.
  • Relevant cloud, data-management/governance, security, or AML/financial-crime certifications such as CISSP or CAMS are preferred.
  • Experience with UML/BPMN, data-modeling tools, documentation frameworks, CI/CD, and Infrastructure-as-Code is beneficial.
  • Familiarity with ISO 20022, NACHA rules, SWIFT CSP, NIST or other industry security standards, and operational risk/resiliency frameworks is preferred.
