Lead Platform Engineer (Sustenance)

Responsibilities
- Define and drive the technical direction and roadmap for the Sustenance Platform.
- Design, build, operate, and modernize cloud platforms, landing zones, container environments, deployment pipelines, and platform services.
- Lead hands-on coding, code reviews, troubleshooting, architecture reviews, and implementation of platform best practices.
- Mentor and coach Senior and Mid-Level Platform Engineers and guide technical decision-making.
- Own squad delivery commitments and identify, manage, and escalate risks, dependencies, and technical challenges.
- Collaborate with Product Engineering leaders to deliver platform capabilities supporting product-specific requirements.
- Establish engineering standards, governance, quality controls, security reviews, and best practices across platform teams.
- Define standards for AI tools and agents, coach engineers on validating AI-generated outputs, and embed AI-enabled workflows into engineering practices.
- Design self-service platform capabilities, golden paths, multi-tenant architectures, and platform standardization initiatives.
- Lead cloud modernization and migration projects, evaluate build-versus-buy decisions, and maintain architecture decision records.
Requirements
- Strong expertise with Amazon ECS, including Fargate and EC2 launch types, service discovery, autoscaling, networking, and task-level IAM.
- Deep understanding of container ecosystem best practices and the ability to evaluate ECS versus EKS/Kubernetes based on business and technical requirements.
- Advanced Terraform expertise including reusable modules, state management, governance, drift remediation, infrastructure testing, and validation.
- Knowledge of CloudFormation, AWS CDK, and Azure Bicep.
- Experience designing modern CI/CD pipelines, GitOps-based deployments, canary and blue-green deployments, automated quality controls, policy enforcement, and secure rollbacks.
- Experience designing self-service platform capabilities, golden paths, multi-tenant architectures, and cloud-native modernization initiatives.
- Ability to balance operational complexity, scalability, engineering investment, business priorities, and managed-service adoption.
- Experience providing technical leadership, mentoring engineers, defining standards, and facilitating architecture and technical design reviews.
