Responsibilities
- Lead the design, delivery, and production operation of complex cloud-native platform components and services.
- Serve as technical lead for major features and initiatives, translating ambiguous problems into scalable technical designs.
- Develop and review Kubernetes operators, controllers, infrastructure automation, and platform services using Go.
- Operate managed and self-managed Kubernetes environments, including stateful and distributed workloads.
- Drive reliability, scalability, observability, operability, and engineering excellence across platform systems.
- Own technical initiatives end to end from architecture and design through implementation, deployment, and operational support.
- Develop architectural proposals and lead design reviews and cross-functional technical collaboration.
- Mentor junior and mid-level engineers through code reviews, design reviews, and technical guidance.
- Evaluate and integrate AI-powered tooling, automated operational workflows, and agentic systems into platform engineering.
Requirements
- 12+ years of experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems and cloud-native platforms in production.
- Demonstrated experience building and operating Kubernetes platform infrastructure at scale, including deployments, upgrades, and production operations.
- Hands-on experience developing Kubernetes Operators, Admission Controllers, Custom Resource Definitions, and platform extensions using Go, Kubebuilder, Operator Framework, or similar technologies.
- Experience operating managed Kubernetes services including EKS, AKS, and GKE, as well as self-managed Kubernetes environments.
- Experience with cloud-native databases, large-scale data infrastructure, or stateful services running on Kubernetes.
- Strong understanding of Kubernetes orchestration, scheduling, security, storage, networking, and workload management.
- Experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP compute, networking, security, and identity services.
- Experience designing microservices, event-driven systems, distributed architectures, and fault-tolerant or highly available platforms.
- Hands-on experience with containers, infrastructure automation, Terraform, Crossplane, observability, and reliability practices.
- Experience with metrics, logging, tracing, monitoring, alerting, and service-level objectives.
- Preferred experience with container networking, service mesh, mTLS, workload identity, secrets management, and distributed data or compute workloads on Kubernetes.
- Preferred experience with Apache Kafka, Redis, Parquet, ORC, Avro, and scalable ingestion and transformation workflows.
- Ability to drive technical strategy through architecture reviews, technical proposals, and cross-functional collaboration.
