Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain automation frameworks and reusable test libraries for API, event-driven, integration, contract, and end-to-end testing.
- Develop synthetic test data generation, data seeding pipelines, data virtualization, and isolated repeatable test execution capabilities.
- Automate REST API, Kafka event-flow, database, schema-evolution, and cross-domain transaction testing.
- Create and execute load, stress, soak, spike, and resilience tests across cloud environments, including failure and resource-exhaustion scenarios.
- Integrate unit, integration, contract, and performance tests into GitLab CI quality gates with parallel execution, reporting, and regression detection.
- Contribute to ArgoCD GitOps workflows and reproducible test-environment provisioning.
- Analyze failures and production incidents using tracing, metrics, and log platforms, and produce root-cause insights and recommendations.
- Build dashboards tracking coverage, pass rates, flakiness, performance baselines, and defect escape rates.
- Collaborate with engineers, product owners, SRE, and platform teams on TDD, BDD, contract testing, observability, security, compliance, and testability.
- Coach domain teams on automation, shift-left testing, and shared framework usage, including AI-assisted testing tools.
Requirements
- Strong software development skills in Java or Kotlin/a similar JVM language, including production-quality code, design patterns, error handling, and maintainability.
- Hands-on experience building and maintaining test automation frameworks using tools such as JUnit 5, REST Assured, Cucumber, or equivalent.
- Experience testing distributed microservices with asynchronous messaging, including eventual consistency, event ordering, and end-to-end data flows.
- Deep REST API testing experience covering contract testing, schema validation, and multi-service integration testing.
- Experience embedding automated tests into GitLab CI, Jenkins, or equivalent pipelines with quality gates, parallel execution, and automated reporting.
- Practical experience with at least one load-testing tool such as Gatling, k6, or JMeter, including realistic load-scenario design and result analysis.
- At least 6 years of experience in software quality engineering or test development roles with a strong development focus.
- Financial-services or payments experience is preferred, particularly with high-throughput transaction processing or batch pipelines.
- Experience with Kubernetes, EKS, GKE, AKS, containerized test execution, and cloud-native deployment patterns is preferred.
- Knowledge of JVM profiling, garbage collection, thread-pool management, and performance anti-patterns is preferred.
- Experience with Dynatrace or Datadog, Prometheus or Grafana, Splunk or ELK, and PostgreSQL or another relational database is preferred.
- Experience with Terraform, Helm charts, SAST/DAST tools such as Fortify, WebInspect, or OWASP ZAP, AI-assisted testing tools, or Pact is preferred.
