Base Salary
$165k - $247k/yr
Responsibilities
- Design and operate deployment, serving, release automation, monitoring, rollback, orchestration, and backend integration systems for AI capabilities.
- Establish service-level objectives, observability, operational ownership, failure-mode analysis, and reliable deployment paths for AI-backed services.
- Build safe promotion patterns including versioning, configuration, feature flags, canaries, rollback, and recovery.
- Define production interfaces, data contracts, feature inputs, freshness expectations, evaluation hooks, and production-readiness criteria with ML and Data Engineering partners.
- Operate online and batch inference capabilities with clear latency, availability, correctness, resiliency, observability, and cost requirements.
- Create reusable patterns for APIs, services, queues, durable workflows, monitoring, and incident response.
- Participate in on-call, incident response, debugging, root-cause analysis, design reviews, code reviews, pairing, and mentoring.
Requirements
- At least 3 years of non-internship, full-time professional software engineering experience.
- At least 3 years designing, building, and operating backend or distributed systems in production, including on-call and incident response.
- Experience deploying and operating ML- or AI-backed services in production.
- Strong proficiency in Python and at least one production backend language such as TypeScript, JavaScript, Go, Java, or Kotlin.
- Preferred experience with MLOps or ML platform capabilities, online inference, batch scoring, recommendation systems, ranking, propensity models, or send-time optimization.
- Preferred experience with AWS, Kubernetes, Docker, Kafka, PostgreSQL, Airflow, Databricks, MLflow, or comparable technologies.
- Preferred experience with Temporal, Step Functions, Cadence, or comparable workflow-orchestration systems.
- Preferred experience building observability for ML systems and integrating generative AI, LLMs, retrieval, agents, or model evaluation into production products.
- Healthcare, digital health, fintech, regulated-domain, PHI, or HIPAA experience is preferred.
- Ability to lead through influence, communicate technical decisions clearly, mentor engineers, and handle privacy, security, auditability, and sensitive healthcare data.
