Responsibilities

  • Own the technical design, architecture, implementation, and support services for the Moneris API platform.
  • Create and maintain end-to-end solution architecture for API and backend applications.
  • Lead API implementation projects, including requirements definition, design, implementation, unit testing, integration, security, encryption, high availability, and scalability.
  • Define API strategy, best practices, standards, governance alignment, and enterprise architecture consistency.
  • Conduct proofs of concept, prototypes, vendor assessments, third-party integrations, and API infrastructure reviews.
  • Perform system specification reviews, code reviews, and design reviews.
  • Collaborate with technology and development teams to deliver software systems and data solutions aligned with business requirements.
  • Develop best practices, provide architectural expertise, publish technical content, and mentor junior team members.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science is required; a master’s degree is preferred, or equivalent work experience in a technology or business environment.
  • At least 7 years of experience in large-scale software development, design, business intelligence, and/or data architecture environments.
  • At least 5 years of hands-on experience developing API and/or backend applications, preferably with .NET, Java, or Node.
  • At least 4 years of experience working with APIs and/or backend applications.
  • At least 2 years of experience with cloud-based solutions, preferably Azure.
  • Full proficiency with multiple programming languages and/or database management and modeling.
  • Experience with NoSQL databases such as Redis, MongoDB, and Cosmos DB, plus some experience with relational database management systems.
  • Experience with API security, encryption, caching, LINQ, JSON manipulation, and modern API programming idioms.
  • Experience with DevOps pipelines and tools including Git, Maven, GitLab, and Jenkins, as well as continuous integration and delivery and automated testing.
  • Testing-related credentials are an asset.
