Responsibilities
- Own the technical design, architecture, implementation, and support services for the Moneris API platform.
- Create and maintain end-to-end solution architecture for API and backend applications.
- Lead API implementation projects, including requirements definition, design, implementation, unit testing, integration, security, encryption, high availability, and scalability.
- Define API strategy, best practices, standards, governance alignment, and enterprise architecture consistency.
- Conduct proofs of concept, prototypes, vendor assessments, third-party integrations, and API infrastructure reviews.
- Perform system specification reviews, code reviews, and design reviews.
- Collaborate with technology and development teams to deliver software systems and data solutions aligned with business requirements.
- Develop best practices, provide architectural expertise, publish technical content, and mentor junior team members.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or Computer Science is required; a master’s degree is preferred, or equivalent work experience in a technology or business environment.
- At least 7 years of experience in large-scale software development, design, business intelligence, and/or data architecture environments.
- At least 5 years of hands-on experience developing API and/or backend applications, preferably with .NET, Java, or Node.
- At least 4 years of experience working with APIs and/or backend applications.
- At least 2 years of experience with cloud-based solutions, preferably Azure.
- Full proficiency with multiple programming languages and/or database management and modeling.
- Experience with NoSQL databases such as Redis, MongoDB, and Cosmos DB, plus some experience with relational database management systems.
- Experience with API security, encryption, caching, LINQ, JSON manipulation, and modern API programming idioms.
- Experience with DevOps pipelines and tools including Git, Maven, GitLab, and Jenkins, as well as continuous integration and delivery and automated testing.
- Testing-related credentials are an asset.
